Living in Portopetro
Portopetro wraps around a deep, sheltered bay with the Reial Club Nàutic marina and a promenade of restaurants by the water. It is smaller and calmer than Cala d'Or, six minutes away, which covers supermarkets, doctors and services all year. The Mondragó beaches are the same distance. In winter the harbour belongs to its residents, with few businesses open.
What homes you will find in Portopetro
There are two-storey houses near the harbour, some with bay views, villas with gardens and pools on the residential streets climbing inland, and apartments in small complexes. Towards S'Alqueria Blanca you find fincas with land. Houses with water views and their own parking are the scarcest.
What to check before deciding
We review current or protected views, marine damp and salt, parking, restaurant or boat noise and routes to services. Villas and fincas add pools, retaining walls, drainage, utilities and licences.
Who this area suits
It suits buyers wanting a harbour, slower rhythm and access to Mondragó without a large resort. Visit by day and evening and understand what remains open in winter.

By the harbour, on the slope or inland
Waterside houses gain views and the promenade, but live with restaurants, summer foot traffic and little parking. On the slope and upper streets there is more garden and calm. Inland the question changes to land, access and utilities. Place each listing in one of these three groups before comparing prices.
Portopetro and Cala d'Or, six minutes apart
Many buyers hesitate between the two. Cala d'Or has more services, a larger marina and more life in summer; Portopetro is smaller and quieter. Drive between them at the time you would go shopping or out to dinner and decide how much of each you want.
Mondragó next door
Mondragó natural park begins a few minutes from the harbour, with sandy beaches and paths through the pines. For anyone who walks or swims every day it is a real advantage; check the most direct access from the house and where you can park in season.
What to ask about a house near the sea
Ask about the condition of windows, doors and façades exposed to salt air, how the house is ventilated in winter and whether the terrace or views depend on a neighbouring plot. And listen to the promenade from the terrace on a summer evening.
