Living in Cala Figuera
Cala Figuera is still a fishing harbour: moored boats, nets beside the boathouses and white houses stepping down over two arms of water. There is no sandy beach, which is partly why it keeps its calm. In summer there are restaurants with terraces over the harbour and plenty of strolling; in winter it is very quiet. For everyday needs there are a couple of supermarkets, a pharmacy and a doctor's surgery; for everything else, Santanyí is seven minutes away.
What homes you will find in Cala Figuera
You will find fishermen's cottages and two- or three-storey homes stepped above the harbour, small apartments and, higher up and towards the Santanyí road, villas with gardens and pools. Harbour views are scarce and command a premium; slopes and steps are part of everyday life.
What to check before deciding
We examine pedestrian and car access, gradients, orientation, marine damp, parking and the true relationship with the harbour. Older houses and buildings also require attention to structure, community rules, previous works and document accuracy.
Who this area suits
This is for buyers who value harbour character and landscape more than having a swimming beach outside. It is quiet off season, so daily services and the practical impact of steps, slopes and maintenance should be understood.

Understanding the harbour’s two branches
The municipal map distinguishes Caló d’en Busques and Caló d’en Boira. Use them to locate a home and understand which part of the harbour appears in its photographs. Then compare elevation, the street entrance and the route down to the water. A harbour-view balcony, an elevated terrace and access to the waterfront are different features. Ask the listing and viewing to establish exactly what the property offers.
A harbour setting is different from a beach setting
Cala Figuera’s identity is linked to its fishing harbour. If your ideal routine includes a sandy beach, compare Cala Santanyí and plan the journey from the prospective home. For longer stays, check everyday shopping, the opening hours of businesses you would use and the route home at night. Assess these separately from the views: a fine panorama does not solve the practicalities of everyday living.
What to record on a harbour-side viewing
Try the steps and slopes carrying something similar to your usual luggage. Check which rooms actually overlook the water and when the terrace receives sun. Look at exposed railings, window frames and outdoor areas; request maintenance records instead of judging condition from a freshly painted façade. If parking is advertised, establish which space belongs to the home and how you reach it from the street.
Deciding between views, convenience and upkeep
Before booking several viewings, rank three priorities: the visual connection with the harbour, ease of access and the maintenance you are willing to take on. If access matters most, explore the upper streets too. For another harbour setting, compare Portopetro using the same property requirements. When alternatives outside Cala Figuera appear here, check their actual location: inclusion on this page does not make them harbour properties.

FAQ
Do all Cala Figuera properties overlook the harbour?
No. The harbour shape and slope create very different outlooks between nearby streets. We confirm orientation, obstacles and the actual perspective before arranging a viewing.
Does Cala Figuera have a beach?
Not a sandy one. People swim from rocks and platforms in the harbour itself, and the nearest beach is Cala Santanyí, about seven minutes by car.
Can you park near the harbour houses?
That is the key question. Many harbour houses have no private parking and in summer parking gets difficult. Before a viewing we tell you whether the home has a garage or space, where to leave the car and how many steps lead to the door.
Can the purchase be prepared from abroad?
Yes. Search, remote viewings and document collection can progress, but we recommend physical inspection and independent review before signing or transferring a significant amount.
